§ 234.01 PROBATIONARY PERIOD OF NEW OFFICERS; RESIDENCY REQUIREMENTS.
   (A)   New officers seeking permanent employment as firefighter/paramedics shall serve a probationary period of 12 months, subject to permanent appointment or discharge under the civil service laws of the State and the regulations of the Civil Service Commission of the city, and each such officer shall have the rank of firefighter/paramedic from the commencement of his or her employment. Residency requirements shall be at the discretion of the Safety-Service Director and the Fire Chief.
   (B)   All new members of the Fire Department shall be certified as paramedics in a program of paramedic instruction approved by the State Board of Emergency Medical Services.
