Former Ch. 37 “Pompano Beach Code Enforcement Board” has been abolished in its entirety and has been replaced with material from Ord. 91-09, passed 11-6-90.
(A) The city, by this chapter, hereby adopts an alternative code enforcement system which shall provide for a Special Magistrate hereinafter described and designated by the City Commission with the authority to hold hearings and assess fines against violators of the city codes and subchapters.
(B) The city, by this chapter, hereby adopts F.S. Ch. 162 in its entirety or as may be amended from time to time.

It is the intent of this chapter to promote, protect, and improve the health, safety, and welfare of the citizens of the city, by authorizing the creation of the position of Special Magistrate for code enforcement proceedings with the authority to impose administrative fines and other non-criminal penalties, to provide an equitable, expeditious, effective and inexpensive method of enforcing any codes and ordinances in force in the city where a pending or repeat violation exists.
