§ 150.095 STANDARD MATERIAL TO BE USED IN PLUMBING SYSTEMS.

   All work done on any plumbing system shall be performed in an efficient and workmanlike manner, and materials used shall be standard adequate to the purpose, and of what is generally considered standard material.

§ 150.096 MINIMIZING INFILTRATION OF FLOOD WATERS.

   The Building Inspector shall require new or replacement water supply systems and/or sanitary sewage systems to be designed to minimize or eliminate infiltration of flood waters into the systems and discharges from the systems into flood waters, and require on-site waste disposal systems to be located so as to avoid impairment of them or contamination from them during flooding.

ELECTRICITY

§ 150.105 DEFINITION.

   For the purpose of this subchapter, the following definition shall apply unless the context clearly indicates or requires a different meaning.

   ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT. Means and includes conductors and equipment installed for the use of electricity supplied for light, heat or power, but does not include radio apparatus or equipment for the wireless reception of sounds and signals, or ordinary household appliances, such as toasters, vacuum cleaners, or washing machines; and does not include apparatus, conductors and other equipment installed for and by public utilities, including common carriers, which are under the jurisdiction of the Illinois Commerce Commission for use in their operations as public utilities.

§ 150.106 RULES ADOPTED; ENFORCEMENT.

   (A)   Pursuant to the recommendation of the Electrical Commission, there are adopted as safe and practical standards for the installation, alteration and use of electrical equipment in the city:

      (1)   The rules and regulations of the National Board of Fire Underwriters, as contained in the code known as the National Electric Code, and as approved by the American Standards Association as last published; and

      (2)   The rules and regulations regarding the installation, alteration and use of electrical equipment last adopted by the electric supply company now supplying the city, and as last published and filed with the Illinois Commerce Commission, a copy of such code and the last mentioned rules and regulations being now on file in the office of the Clerk.

   (B)   (1)   All new or replacement service entrance conductors shall be installed in rigid metal conduit.

      (2)   All electrical wiring in industrial structures shall be installed in electrical metal tubing (EMT), rigid intermediate metal conduit (IMC), or rigid metal conduit (RMC). All electrical wiring in commercial and multifamily buildings having more than three stories plus an elevator shall be installed in EMT, IMC or RMC. Where conduit is required and where there will be low voltage wiring, the low voltage wiring shall be installed in EMT, IMC or RMC if in concealed spaces.

      (3)   Duplexes, apartment houses and other multiple use buildings shall have banked meters.

      (4)   The National Electrical Code as adopted by the City of Polo is applicable to mobile homes located within the corporate boundaries of the city.

   (C)   The Committee on Buildings and Grounds shall enforce the provisions of this subchapter.
