(A) Valves shall be Clow or Mueller Resilient Wedge Gate Valves (left turn open) type with extension stem and ground level position indicator, or approved equal (by the Superintendent of Public Works) conforming to AWWA Specifications, tested to 300 psi pressure for 150 psi working pressure, and installed at a maximum distance of 800 feet and at every intersection of water main.
(B) When installed under any streets, sidewalks, or driveways, all line valves shall be installed in valve vaults with cutting sleeves. Whenever proper installation requires a 10 inch valve or larger, a suitable valve vault will be installed.
(C) All line valves shall open counter clockwise and close clockwise. Public Works employees are the only individuals allowed to turn any main valves after final inspection and initial turn on.
