(A) Hydrants shall be of the compression or gate type, as manufactured by East Jordan Iron Works or Mueller, and subject to the approval of the Superintendent of Public Works and Fire Chief conforming to the latest AWWA Specification, tested to 300 psi pressure and suitable for 150 psi working pressure. Hydrants shall have a minimum 5¼ inch valve opening and be provided with a 4½ inch pumper connection and two 2½ inch hose connections with National Standard thread. Hydrants shall be at intervals not to exceed 300 feet. They shall be connected to the main with a 6 inch ductile iron branch controlled by an independent 6 inch valve. All hydrants shall be painted as follows:
(1) Hydrants fed by a six inch main shall be red with a yellow cap.
(2) Hydrants fed by an eight inch or larger main shall be red with a green cap.
(B) A 12 inch spool is required between fire hydrant and auxiliary valve.
(C) All hydrants shall be a break flange type.
(D) All hydrants or stand pipes erected in the village, for the purpose of extinguishing fire in the village, are hereby declared public hydrants, and no person or persons, other than members of the fire department when in the discharge of their duty as members of the fire department, or who are especially authorized by the Water Committee of the village and then only for the uses and purposes of the fire department, or in the exercise of the authority so delegated by the Water Committee, shall open any of the hydrants or stand pipes or attempt to draw water therefrom, or in any manner, shape or form interfere with any of the hydrants or stand pipes.
