1721.08   INSPECTIONS; NOTICES OF VIOLATION; TIME LIMIT FOR CORRECTION.
   (a)   The Building Commissioner shall have concurrent jurisdiction with the Fire Chief to inspect the installation of any smoke detector required to be installed by this chapter.
   (b)   Any building inspector or certified fire safety inspector who, upon inspection of any premises as to which the owner is required to maintain smoke detectors pursuant to this chapter, finds a violation of this chapter, shall immediately issue a notice of violation to the owner of such premises requiring him or her to comply with this chapter within a reasonable time, not to exceed seven days.
   Upon failure to comply with such notice of violation within seven days of the issuance thereof, the building inspector or fire safety inspector shall present the matter to the City Prosecutor for criminal proceedings according to law.
