(a) The Director of Public Service is hereby authorized and directed to advertise as required by law for insurance contracts to benefit the employees set forth in subsection (b) hereof, such insurance contracts to provide for five thousand dollars ($5,000) life insurance and an additional five thousand dollars ($5,000) policy for accidental death and dismemberment. Such insurance contracts shall replace those insurance contracts in the amounts of one thousand five hundred dollars ($1,500) respectively, which were previously authorized and are presently in effect.
(b) The employees to which this section applies are as follows: Laborer (Class "A"); Stokerman; Fire Hydrant Mechanic; Incinerator Maintenance Specialist; and Crane Operator. Truck drivers, special equipment operators, fire hydrant supervisors, sign painters, maintenance specialists and timekeepers shall be covered by insurance contracts as specified in Section 173.19.
