(a) When the Director of Public Service deems it necessary to call an employee to duty on the 4:00 p.m. to 12:00 midnight shift, such employee shall receive an additional five cents (5¢) per hour to his regular rate of compensation. When such Director deems it necessary to call an employee to duty on the 12:00 midnight to 8:00 a.m. shift, such employee shall receive an additional ten cents (10¢) per hour to his regular rate of compensation. However, no differential rate as outlined in this section shall be paid to any employee receiving an overtime rate at the same time.

(b) In addition to the regular compensation of Public Service Department employees, and the additional compensation provided in subsection (a) hereof, the following premium rates of compensation are hereby established:
(1) An additional ten cents (10¢) per hour during the time a laborer performs labor within a sewer;
(2) An additional nine cents (9¢) per hour during the time a laborer operates a jack hammer;
(3) An additional ten cents (10¢) per hour during the time a truck driver or special equipment operator operates a snow plow; and
(4) An additional thirty-two cents (32¢) per hour during the time a special equipment operator operates the following equipment: a grader, roller, dozer, backhoe or front-end loader.
(5) An additional fifteen cents (15¢) per hour during the time a Class "A" laborer, a stokerman or a fire hydrant mechanic works a second or third shift.
(6) A cement finisher shall be paid at the same rate as a special equipment operator during the times he is performing cement finishing work.
