6-1-4: SPEED LIMITS; RESTRICTIONS:
   A.   Operation In Prudent Manner; Limits Designated: Every person operating a motor vehicle on the streets, alleys, or highways of the city shall drive the same in a careful and prudent manner and at a rate of speed that will not endanger the property of another, or any person, and in no event drive the same at a greater rate of speed than as follows:
      1.   Business District: Twenty (20) miles per hour within a business district.
      2.   Residential Or School District: Twenty five (25) miles per hour in a residential or school district. (Ord. 22, 9-1-1970)
      3.   Augusta Avenue: The following shall be the maximum speeds for the operation of motor vehicles on Augusta Avenue within the corporate limits of the city: (Ord. 1995-98, 12-12-1995; amd. 2015 Code)
Twenty five (25) miles per hour from the point of intersection with Center Street to approximately one hundred feet (100') north of State Street.
Thirty five (35) miles per hour from approximately one hundred feet (100') north of State Street to approximately seven hundred fifty feet (750') north of North Street.
Forty five (45) miles per hour from approximately seven hundred fifty feet (750') north of North Street to the intersection of U.S. Highway 6. (Ord. 1995-98, 12-12-1995)
   B.   Slow Speed; Blocking Normal Movement: No person shall drive a motor vehicle at such a slow speed as to impede or block the normal reasonable movement of traffic, except when reduced speed is necessary for safe operation or in compliance with law.
   C.   Posting Signs: The city shall have placed conspicuously on every main highway where the rate of speed changes, signs of sufficient size, setting out the rate of speed. (Ord. 22, 9-1-1970)
