If, in the reasonable belief of a deputy, officer or designee, an animal presents an immediate danger to the health and safety of any person including a deputy, officer or designee, or the animal is threatening imminent harm to any person, or the animal is in the process of attacking any person, the officer may destroy the animal in a proper and humane manner. Otherwise, the deputy, officer or designee may apprehend the animal and deliver it to the pound for confinement. If the animal is later determined to be no longer a danger to the health, safety and welfare of the City, it may be released to its owner. (Prior Code § 5-1-10)
