7.01 PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION.
   (A)   There is hereby created a Planning and Zoning Commission consisting of seven (7) members to be appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by a majority of Council. If a member is not confirmed by Council then the Mayor must make a new appointment. Members shall serve for overlapping four-year terms of office; provided that the members of the Planning Commission under the statutory plan of government for the Village of Obetz, other than the persons serving because of their capacity as the Mayor or as a member of Council, are hereby designated as members of the Commission under this Charter for the remainder of their terms. The five (5) new members to be first appointed under this Charter shall be residents of Obetz and shall be appointed for the following terms: three (3) shall be appointed for terms of two (2) years and two (2) shall be appointed for a term of four (4) years. Thereafter, each member shall be appointed for a term of four (4) years. In addition to the five (5) citizen members, the Mayor or the Director of Public Works, as determined by the Mayor in a written instrument filed with the Clerk of Council, and a member of the Council, elected by the Council for a four-year term, shall also serve as members of the Planning and Zoning Commission.
   (B)   The powers, duties and functions of the Planning and Zoning Commission shall be provided by this Charter and the ordinances of Obetz; but until such ordinances shall be passed, it shall possess powers, duties and functions as are provided by the laws of Ohio, to the extent that such laws do not conflict with the provisions of this Charter. The Planning and Zoning Commission shall hear all appeals from administrative officers and employees authorized by ordinance with respect to zoning, platting, subdivision, building, housing and other regulations pertaining to land uses.
   (C)   If more than three (3) consecutive meetings are missed by a Commission member they may be removed by the Mayor.
