6-1-1: SHORT TITLE:

This Chapter shall be known and may be cited as The Building Code of Oak Lawn. (1951 Code 21-17-2)

6-1-2: DEFINITIONS:

Words and terms used in this Chapter, not otherwise defined, shall have the meanings defined in the zoning ordinance 1 . (1951 Code 21-1-3)

6-1-3: APPLICABILITY TO EXISTING BUILDINGS:

In construing the several sections of this Chapter, said section shall not be construed as requiring alterations in the construction or equipment of buildings or structures in existence at the time of the passage of this Chapter, unless specific provision is made to the contrary, or unless the provision is expressly made retroactive, or unless such building shall not have sufficient or adequate means of egress of ingress. 6-1-4: COMPLIANCE WITH PROVISIONS:

Every building or structure or part thereof, hereafter constructed, erected, altered, enlarged, maintained or repaired within the Village shall be so constructed, erected, altered, enlarged, maintained or repaired in accordance with the provisions of this Chapter. (1951 Code 21-5-24)
