No person shall ride on any public conveyance or vehicle not designated or intended for the use of passengers, or on a bicycle or motorcycle except on the seat provided for that purpose. This provision shall not apply to an employee engaged in the necessary discharge of a duty nor to persons riding within truck bodies in spaces intended for merchandise.
