(a) The fee for a rooming house license shall be a minimum of fifty dollars ($50.00) for up to five rental rooms in one rooming house, plus five dollars ($5.00) per room for all rental rooms in excess of five rooms. Such fee shall be charged to defray the expenses of the inspection of rooming houses and the necessary administration of this chapter.
(b) The amount of all fees established herein shall be doubled if, at the time application is made, such applicant is operating such rooming house without a license or with an expired license.
(c) If, upon inspection, it is found that a rooming house does not meet the requirements of this chapter, the operator shall be informed, in writing, of the deficiencies, and a date shall be set for compliance and reinspection. If the reinspection reveals that the deficiencies have not been corrected, the license shall be denied and the fee shall not be returned. In such event a new application must be filed and the fee paid for each inspection required before the premises are found to meet all of the requirements of this chapter.
