(a) The Law Director is hereby authorized to compromise and settle claims on behalf of the City when such claims are asserted by the City for recovery due to loss of or damage to property of the City or for the collection of unpaid income taxes or other outstanding obligations, when such claims or debts do not exceed one thousand five hundred dollars ($1,500).
(b) The compromise and settlement of such claims shall be with the concurrence and recommendation of the appropriate director responsible for such property or the Treasurer or fiscal officer responsible for income taxes or other obligations.
