26.01   DEFINITIONS.

26.02   BOARD ESTABLISHED.
   A Board of Trustees (hereinafter referred to as the “Board”) of the Nevada Municipal Cemetery (or any future property designated as a cemetery) is hereby created, the members of which shall be appointed by the Mayor, with the approval of the Council, to plan, maintain and operate the City’s cemetery.  Pursuant to Section 523I.502 of the Code of Iowa, the Board hereby states its willingness and intention to act as the trustee for the perpetual maintenance of the cemetery property.

26.03   BOARD ORGANIZATION. 
   The Board shall consist of six members.  All members shall be residents of the City and over the age of 18 and shall serve without compensation, but may receive their actual expenses.  All appointments shall be for a term of five years, except to fill vacancies.
26.04   VACANCIES. 
   Any member who is no longer a resident of the City shall resign his or her position.  Any member absent from three consecutive regular meetings of the Board, except in case of sickness or temporary absence from the City with due explanation of such absence, shall render his or her office as Trustee vacant.  Vacancies on the Board shall be filled by appointment by the Mayor with approval of the Council, and such appointments shall fill out the unexpired terms for which the appointments are made.
