12-3-5: BLOCKS:
   A.   Length, Width, Shape: The lengths, widths, and shapes of blocks shall be determined with due regard to:
      1.   Provision of adequate building sites suitable to the special needs of the type of use contemplated.
      2.   Zoning requirements as to lot sizes and dimensions within the corporate limits of the village.
      3.   Needs for convenient access, circulation, control and safety of street traffic.
      4.   Limitations and opportunities of topography.
   B.   Minimum Dimensions: The lengths of blocks shall not exceed one thousand two hundred sixty feet (1,260') nor be less than four hundred feet (400') nor have less than sufficient width to provide for two (2) tiers of lots of appropriate depth between street lines, except where fronting on marginal access streets.
   C.   Pedestrian Crosswalks: Pedestrian crosswalk rights of way shall be a minimum of twenty feet (20') wide where required by the plan commission through the center of blocks more than nine hundred feet (900') long where deemed essential to provide for pedestrian circulation or access to schools, playgrounds, shopping centers, transportation, and other community facilities.
   D.   Commercial And Industrial Blocks: Blocks or portions thereof intended for commercial or industrial use shall be designated as such, and the plan shall show adequate off street areas to provide for parking, loading docks, and other such facilities. (Ord. 831, 8-10-1994)
