There is hereby adopted by the village, by reference, the life safety code, current edition, formerly known as code for safety to life from fire in buildings and structures or the building exit code published by the National Fire Protection Association. This code deals with the life safety from fire and like emergencies. It covers construction, protection and occupancy features to minimize danger to life from fire, smoke, fumes or panic before buildings are vacated. It specifies the number, size and arrangement of exit facilities sufficient to permit prompt escape of occupants from buildings or structures in case of fire or other conditions dangerous to life. Three (3) copies have been and are now on file in the office of the village clerk, and the same are hereby adopted and incorporated as fully as if set out at length herein, and from the date when this section shall take effect, the provisions thereof shall be controlling within the limits of the village.
