Garage sales are subject to the following guidelines:
A. All garage sale permit signs must be posted in plain view from the street of the premises and must remain until after completion of garage sale.
B. Sale signage affixed to utility/streetlight poles or trees is strictly prohibited. No signage is allowed in public rights of way. If found, sign will be removed by village staff and can be picked up at village hall during normal business hours. The village of Monee will only keep said signs for a period of three (3) days after removal and thereafter will be discarded.
C. If more than one household is joining in a single sale, each household needs its own permit even if the sale is at the address of only one participating household.
D. Sales are limited to two (2) consecutive days beginning no earlier than seven thirty o'clock (7:30) A.M. and must end before seven thirty o'clock (7:30) P.M.
E. Permits are only issued to village of Monee residents and no sales are to be conducted by outside parties.
F. Only freestanding ground signs located on the property of the sale are allowed.
G. All signs should be removed within twenty four (24) hours after sale is closed in order for the twenty dollar ($20.00) deposit to be refunded.
H. Advertising signage can be displayed no earlier than two (2) days prior to sale.
I. Only two (2) garage sale permits will be issued per calendar year for the same premises.
J. Fines up to seven hundred fifty dollars ($750.00) may be imposed for violation of these regulations. (Ord. 1541, 8-25-2010)
