10-2-1: RULES OF WORD CONSTRUCTION:
All terms and abbreviations shall have the same meanings as they are now defined and used by law, statutes and other chapters of this code or as they may be amended, except as they are specifically defined otherwise for the purpose of this zoning title. When reference is made to any thing, condition, rule, statute or ordinance, it shall be deemed to refer thereto as it exists or may be amended unless the context clearly indicates otherwise.
   A.   Words used in the present tense shall include the past and future.
   B.   Words used in the singular number shall include the plural number, and the plural the singular.
   C.   The word "shall" is mandatory and not discretionary.
   D.   The word "may" is permissive.
   E.   The word "used" or "occupied" shall include the words "intended", "designed", or "arranged to be used or occupied".
   F.   The word "person" shall include a "firm", "association", "organization", "partnership", "trust", "company" or "corporation", "LLC" as well as an "individual".
   G.   The word "building" shall include the words "structure" and "premises".
   H.   Any word not herein defined shall be as defined in a recognized English dictionary. (Ord. 2408, 10-1-2012)
