A. Except as may otherwise be provided by city ordinance (exclusive of the fire code) the fire code as above adopted shall not apply to one-family and two-family dwellings.
B. Except as may otherwise be provided by city ordinance (exclusive of the fire code) the fire code shall not apply to three- or four-family dwellings provided that such dwellings are constructed on ground level and have more than a single route of fire safety egress.
C. Except as may otherwise be provided by city ordinance (exclusive of the fire code) the fire code shall not apply to buildings existing as of the effective date of the fire code. Buildings and structures existing as of the time of the effective date of the fire code shall be subject to the requirements and standards of the fire code (i.e., then existing fire code) in effect at the time of construction of such preexisting building or structure.
D. Requirements for permit as provided for in the fire code shall apply only in respect to open burning/open fires, employment of or setting off of fireworks and pyrotechnics, and explosives. The charge for any permit so required shall be as established by resolution of the Mitchell city council. (Ord. 2482, 8-4-2014)
