7-6-1: LICENSING REQUIREMENTS:
   A.   License And License Plate Required: No person who resides within the village shall ride or propel a bicycle on any street, highway or road, or upon any public way set aside for the exclusive use of bicycles, unless such bicycle has been licensed and a license plate is attached thereto. In the event that a bicycle has been purchased either within or outside the village but has no license and/or license plate, then the owner or operator of such bicycle shall license the same as provided in this section.
   B.   Application For License: Application for registration and for a license plate shall be obtained from the office of chief of police on forms provided by the village.
   C.   Proof Of Ownership: The office of chief of police shall refuse to issue a license where it has reason to believe the applicant is not the owner of, or entitled to possession of, the bicycle.
   D.   Inspection: The office of chief of police shall inspect each bicycle before licensing the same and shall refuse a license for any bicycle which is determined to be in unsafe mechanical condition.
   E.   License Plate Or Tag: Upon issuing a bicycle license, the office of chief of police shall also issue a plate or tag which shall be firmly attached to the bicycle in a manner as to be plainly visible from the rear.
   F.   Records Kept: The office of chief of police shall keep a record of the number of each license, the date issued, the name and address of the person to whom issued and the name on the frame of the bicycle for which issued.
   G.   Duration Of License; Transfer Of Ownership: A bicycle license shall remain valid as long as it remains the property of the initial owner. If sold, traded, given away, etc., the new owner shall register the bicycle in the name of the new owner. (Ord. 1146, 3-16-1998)
