There is hereby created within the village a police department. The police department shall consist of a chief of police, and such number of sworn officers and other employees as may be duly authorized by the village president and board of trustees from time to time. In the police department, there shall be one entry level, namely patrol officer, and three (3) promotional ranks, namely sergeant, captain and investigator, with the number in each rank to be set from time to time by the village president and board of trustees.
