537.19 PARENTAL NEGLECT.
    (a)    Definitions. For the purposes of this section the following definition, shall apply:
      (1)    "Child" means any person who is under the age of eighteen (18).
(2)    "Parent" means a mother, father, legal guardian or any other person having the care or custody of a child.
      (3)    "Act of delinquency" means an act which violates the laws of the State of Ohio, or an ordinance of the City of Mentor, and which would be a crime if committed by an adult, excluding however, traffic violations.
      (4)    "Parental neglect" means the failure of or neglect by a parent of any child to exercise parental control and authority which results in the minor committing an act of delinquency.
   (b)    A parent found guilty of parental neglect shall be fined not less than fifty dollars ($50.00), nor more than five hundred dollars ($500.00).
