Classified and qualified unclassified full-time city employees accrue annual leave from their date of hire according to the following schedules:
A. Regular full-time employees:

10+ | 6.16 | 200 hours |
Firefighters (2,756 annual hours);
Police officers assigned to patrol division (2,236 annual hours) if Section K exemption implemented by city commission:

B. Annual leave begins to accrue at date of hire up to the maximum number of hours as shown above in section A.
C. An employee does not accrue annual leave for any time worked in excess of forty hours per week.
D. Annual leave cannot be taken by the employee until the employee completes six months of employment.
E. Annual leave shall not be granted in advance of accrual.
F. Upon termination from city employment, an employee will be paid for all accrued annual leave.
G. An employee may use accrued annual leave just before the employee's separation from city employment.
H. Annual leave should be requested as much in advance as possible. Reasonable effort shall be made to accommodate the employee's request, though approval shall be subject to advance notification and the needs of the department. If annual leave is requested by one or more employees at the same time, seniority shall rule.
I. Temporary and casual employees do not accrue annual leave.
