The Lexington-Fayette County Board of Health shall continue after the effective date of this Charter as the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Board of Health. Said board shall retain all of the powers, duties and functions under law as may be now or hereafter assigned to county boards of health, and shall continue to supervise and direct the activities of the City-County Health Department as provided by law. The Director and staff of the Urban County Health Department shall continue to be appointed in accordance with the provisions of applicable state law.
On the effective date of this Charter, the Mayor, as the Chief Executive Officer of the Merged Government, shall replace the County Judge as an ex-officio member of the health board. On said date, the Lexington City Manager shall be replaced as an ex-officio member of the board by a person appointed by the Council of the Merged Government in accordance with the provisions of state law pertaining to the composition of county health boards generally. All other members of the board on the effective date of this Charter shall continue to serve until such time as their terms are completed and their successors are appointed. All vacancies on said board after the effective date of this Charter shall be made in accordance with applicable state law.
