The Department of Sanitation and Public Works shall be organized into a Division of Refuse Collection and Disposal, a Division of Sanitary Sewers, a Division of Streets and Roads, a Division of Property Maintenance, a Division of Engineering, a Division of Traffic Engineering, and such other divisions as the Merged Government Council may designate.
The Division of Refuse Collection and Disposal shall be responsible for the collection and proper disposal of all trash and garbage collected by the Merged Government and shall regulate the disposal of all garbage and trash collected by private persons.
The Division of Sanitary Sewers shall operate and maintain the sanitary sewer system of the Merged Government. Initially this system shall be the same as that owned and operated by the City of Lexington on the effective date of this Charter, including all sewage disposal plants of the City of Lexington.
The Division of Streets and Roads shall construct, service and maintain all streets and roads of the Merged Government, including those streets and roads serviced and maintained by the City of Lexington and the County of Fayette on the effective date of this Charter.
The Division of Property Maintenance shall service and maintain all buildings and other structures owned by the Merged Government not specifically covered by other sections of this Charter.
The Division of Engineering shall perform all engineering duties for the Merged Government, including those functions performed by the City Engineer for the City of Lexington on the effective date of this Charter.
The Division of Traffic Engineering shall perform all traffic engineering services for the Merged Government, including those performed by the City Traffic Engineer of the City of Lexington on the effective date of this Charter.
