Sec. 7-16. - Authority of mayor, designated employees to sign indemnity bonds.
(a)   There is delegated to the mayor the power, and he is authorized on behalf of the urban county government and in its name, to sign indemnity bonds, as principal, in favor of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, only in the event a check drawn on the treasury of the Commonwealth of Kentucky and payable to the urban county government is lost, and further only in the event the furnishing of such indemnity bond by the urban county government is required by the treasurer of the commonwealth as a prerequisite to the issuance of a duplicate of the lost check.
(b)   The mayor is authorized on behalf of the urban county government to designate an employee or employees to sign, as surety, an indemnity bond in favor of the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Employees so designated are authorized to sign such indemnity bonds as surety only in the event a check drawn on the treasury of the Commonwealth of Kentucky and payable to the urban county government is lost and only in the event the furnishing of such indemnity bond, with surety, is required by the treasurer of the Commonwealth of Kentucky as a prerequisite to the issuance of a duplicate of the lost check.
(c)   Notwithstanding the provision in (b), the government by this section assumes primary liability on the obligation secured by indemnity bonds executed pursuant to this section.
(d)   There is delegated to the commissioner of finance the power, and he is authorized on behalf of the urban county government and in its name, to sign stop-payment forms on cashier's checks and certified checks drawn in favor of the urban county government.
(e)   There is delegated to the commissioner of finance the power, and he is authorized on behalf of the urban county government and in its name, to sign any form required for annually abandoned property subject to escheat to the commonwealth pursuant to KRS 393.110.
