(a) Registration as a contractor or subcontractor shall not be required of any person performing new construction or remodeling on his legal residence, provided such residence is a single-family dwelling.
(b) Registration shall not be required for maintenance, repair or improvement work on his rental property personally performed by a property owner or by a subcontractor regularly engaged by the property owner's construction-related business or entity.
(c) Any subcontractor who works under contract to and under the supervision of any contractor registered under this article, or who works as an employee of any contractor registered under this article, shall be exempt from the requirements of this article. This exemption shall not apply to subcontractors or persons performing work directly for a property owner, or for any party not registered under this article.
