(a) General Powers: The commission created by this article may expend such funds as may become available to it; may examine, report and advise the urban county government on housing issues; and may form committees and adopt bylaws, rules and regulations as are necessary to carry out its duties and purposes as set forth in this article. The commission shall not acquire any interest in any real property without the prior approval of the mayor and the urban county council.
(b) Duties: The commission shall, as permitted by law:
(1) Oversee implementation of the task force on homelessness recommendations;
(2) Coordinate community response;
(3) Establish committees, which may include interested members of the public, as may be necessary for carrying out its duties set forth herein; and
(4) Serve as the lead planning agency for the development of the Consolidated Plan for the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development's Community Planning and Development Programs.
(5) Perform any other act necessary or appropriate to carry out the purposes of this article.
