Sec. 2-196. - Duties.
The Commission shall, as permitted by law:
(1)   Review and make recommendations on all aspects of the urban county budget pertaining to the duties and purpose of the commission;
(2)   Review, recommend, stimulate and/or endorse projects and programs in both the public and private sector which have a bearing on older persons;
(3)   Apply for, receive and disburse funds and contracts with any state, federal, public or private agency for the purpose of carrying out its duties as set forth herein, utilizing staff made available to or employed by it;
(4)   Recommend modifications, appropriate linkages and new programs to both the mayor and urban county council, as well as to various agencies and organizations within the private sector;
(5)   Have the authority to develop comprehensive plans for services and programs for older citizens, embracing both the public and private sector, utilizing input from appropriate agencies of the urban county government and the private sector;
(6)   Solicit and receive contributions, prepare surveys and studies, conduct conferences, sponsor educational/promotional programs related to services and needs of older citizens, and engage in other activities appropriate to the goals of the Commission; and
(7)   Provide technical assistance and coordination to both public and private sectors concerned with issues, services, and programs and opportunities related to older citizens.
