The Commission shall consist of twenty-two (22) members, eighteen (18) of whom shall be appointed by the mayor, subject to confirmation by a majority of the urban county council members. Of the eighteen (18) members to be appointed, two (2) members shall be selected from the membership of the urban county council; four (4) members shall be selected from Fayette County residents over the age of sixty (60); and twelve (12) other public members shall be selected because of their specific interests in, or competencies pertaining to, problems encountered or concerns identified by older persons. The following urban county government officers shall be ex officio members: the commissioner of general services or his designee, the commissioner of social services, the commissioner of health, and the chief administrative officer.
