Sec. 2-11.2. - Urban county engineer.
The director of the division of engineering, also referred to as the urban county engineer, shall, under the direction of the commissioner of public works, have general supervision over the affairs and works of such division. The director of the division of engineering shall do and perform all acts and things authorized or required by general law or by ordinance of the urban county government. It shall be his duty to supervise and superintend the general condition of all streets, sidewalks and sewers and the laying out, construction, maintenance and repair of the same, and to report to the commission of public works all encroachments, nuisances and obstructions thereon; to make such plans, surveys and estimates and establish such grades as may be necessary from time to time for the construction of streets, sidewalks and sewers and for the development of the urban county; to inspect all work of a public character, involving engineering principles, and the materials used therein, to see that the same conform to the contracts and specifications therefor and to report in writing to the commissioner of public works, stating his acceptance or rejection of such work. The director of the division of engineering shall perform such other duties as may be required of him by the mayor, the council or the commissioner of public works.
