The council clerk shall be empowered, and it shall be her duty, to do and perform all acts and things authorized or required by general law to be performed by the council clerk. She shall attend all meetings of the council and act as clerk of council, record and preserve the proceedings of the council, and perform such other duties as may be required of her by the council or mayor.
