Sec. 23-19. - Oath and bond for police.
(a)   Each new member of the police force, before entering upon the discharge of his duties, shall take an oath before the mayor to faithfully discharge the duties of his office. The oath shall be subscribed by the person taking it and filed in the office of the commissioner of finance.
(b)   The police chief and each other member of the police force shall give such bond to the urban county government, and with such surety as specified in subsection (c), conditioned that they will faithfully perform the duties of their office and pay over to the persons entitled thereto all moneys that may come into their hands. A lien shall exist on the lands of the chief and other members of the police force, and their sureties, from the time of executing bond, for all sums of money that come into their hands. 
(c)   The bond mentioned in subsection (b) shall be given in the amount of twenty-five hundred dollars ($2,500.00), with some solvent and reliable guaranty company authorized to do business in the state, as surety thereon, for the faithful performance of the duties of their respective positions and employment, as required by general laws and ordinances governing and related thereto. No individual covered by this section shall perform any duty or act of employment until he shall have given bond as herein required.
