(a) The director shall apply preference points equivalent to a two (2) percent upgrade to the candidates' final score, after all required examinations are completed, for any candidate who has served in any branch of the United States Armed Forces and who has received an honorable discharge. The director shall also apply preference points equivalent to a two (2) percent upgrade to the candidates' final score for Fayette County residents and an equivalent one (1) percent upgrade to the candidates' final score for residents of the following contiguous counties: Bourbon, Clark, Jessamine, Madison, Scott, and Woodford.
(b) In no case shall the application of the military preference consideration contained in this section operate to raise an applicant's unadjusted evaluation score if such score is below the minimum score set for qualification for appointment to the position for which application is made.
(c) Prior service with the urban county government or with its predecessors shall not entitle any applicant to the position of fire fighter to any increase on his examination mark.
