CERTIFICATE OF OPERATION
It shall be unlawful for any person to operate or drive for hire what is commonly known as a taxi or jitney, without obtaining a certificate of identification from the town.

The Mayor may, in his or her discretion, refuse to issue or may revoke the certificate of any vehicle for hire or the certificate of any operator or driver of any vehicle for hire for any of the following reasons:
(A) Conviction of a felony against the state or conviction of any offense against another state which would have been a felony if committed in the state;
(B) Violation of any federal or state law relating to the use, possession or sale of alcoholic beverages or narcotic or barbiturate drugs;
(C) Addiction to or habitual use of alcoholic beverages or narcotic or barbiturate drugs;
(D) Violation of any federal or state law relating to prostitution;
(E) Noncitizenship in the United States; and
(F) Habitual violation of traffic laws or ordinances.

OPERATION RULES AND REGULATIONS
It shall be unlawful for any person to operate any taxicab whose operator is engaged in the business of transporting passengers for hire over the public streets of the town without first posting bond in the sum of $25,000 with the Town Administrator/Town Clerk or taking out liability insurance in the following minimum amounts for each taxicab:
(A) Fifty thousand dollars because of bodily injury to or death of one person in any one accident;
(B) Subject to the limit for one person, $100,000 because of bodily injury to or death of two or more persons in any one accident; and
(C) Twenty-five thousand dollars because of injury to or destruction of property of others in any one accident.
