§ 94.09  REDEMPTION AND DISPOSITION OF IMPOUNDED ANIMALS.
   (A)   Any healthy animal apprehended or impounded for being at large may be redeemed by the owner or other person, as authorized in division (D) below, at any time prior to the disposition of the animal under § 94.10, upon showing that the animal has a current license tag and rabies vaccination receipt, and upon the payment to the county of a fee of $1 for each day, or part thereof, that the animal is kept in the animal shelter and upon the further payment to the county of the following apprehension or impounding fees:
      (1)   Five dollars for the first time the animal is apprehended or impounded;
      (2)   Ten dollars for the second time the animal is apprehended or impounded; and
      (3)   Twenty dollars for the third and each subsequent time the animal is apprehended or impounded.
   (B)   Any animal impounded, for any reason, who appears to any licensed veterinarian to have any infectious or contagious disease, other than rabies, may be destroyed forthwith.
   (C)   (1)   Any animal apprehended and impounded for having bitten a person, being suspected of having bitten a person, or appearing to have rabies, shall not be redeemed by the owner for a period of 14 days, but instead shall be kept under observation in the Animal Shelter or a Veterinarian's Office or hospital, for a period of 14 days at the owner's expense, unless the animal shall sooner die; provided that, an animal apprehended and impounded under this division (C) may be redeemed at any time upon the terms and conditions set forth in division (A) above upon presentation of a rabies vaccination receipt showing that the animal has been vaccinated against rabies within one year.
      (2)   At the expiration of the 14-day period, the animal may be redeemed by the owner or other person, as authorized in division (D) below, upon the terms and conditions set forth in division (A) above and, in addition thereto, upon presentation of a paid receipt for all medical expenses created by the animal.
   (D)   In the event that the owner of an animal which has been impounded, pursuant to this chapter, except in the case of an animal impounded pursuant to § 94.07(B), fails to redeem the animal within five days of the impounding, then any other person may, prior to the disposition of the animal, obtain possession of the animal upon payment to the county of a fee as herein provided in division (A) above and also upon compliance with the requirements of this chapter concerning the county license tag and rabies vaccination receipt.
