§ 95.14 HOUSE NUMBERING PLAN.
   (A)   Manner of numbering. The Village Council Safety Committee shall have charge of house numbering. Generally, and as nearly so as practicable, buildings shall be numbered in the following uniform manner:
      (1)   Buildings on the streets running north and south shall be numbered north from East and West Lake Shore Drive;
      (2)   Buildings on the streets running east and west they shall be numbered eastwardly and westwardly from Division Street.
      (3)   The basis for all numbering shall assume that Division Street runs north and south.
      (4)   Even numbers shall be used for the easterly and southerly sides of streets and odd numbers for westerly and northerly sides.
   (B)   Display of numbers.
      (1)   Upon notification by the Village Council Safety Committee of the proper number of a building, the owner of the building shall cause the number to be placed and continuously maintained in a conspicuous place on the front of the building. The address letters shall be a minimum of 3½" in height and shall be in arabic numbers only.
      (2)   If a building stands back more than 60 feet from the street right of way line, the number shall be conspicuously displayed at or near the sidewalk, driveway or common entrance to the building at the street line on a gate post, fence, tree, post or sign placed at least 10 feet, but not more than 20 feet, from the street right of way line so as to be easily legible from the roadway.
      (3)   If the front door of the building does not face the street or roadway, the address numbers shall be placed on the right corner of the building.
      (4)   In regard to individuals residing on private roads, streets or lanes which are not maintained by the village, a sign shall be placed near the entrance from the public roadway with a listing of all of the addresses of the residents on the private road, street or lane not maintained by the village.
   (C)   Change of numbers. The Village Council Safety Committee shall be authorized to change the house numbering of any street or part of a street or any individual building, when the change shall be necessary by reason of readjustment of any kind such as, inaccuracy, mistake, or for any other cause.
   (D)   Removing numbers. No person shall remove, alter or deface any building address number, properly assigned and placed on or near a building, or place or retain on any building any number other than the one duly assigned by the Village Council Safety Committee.
