Copies of the Ohio Fire Code and the BOCA Basic Fire Prevention Code, as adopted in § 1610.01, are on file with the Mayor’s office for inspection by the public. In addition, the Mayor’s office has copies available for distribution to the public, at cost.
(a) The Ohio Basic Building Code shall supersede and govern any order, standard, rule or regulation of the Ohio Fire Code or the Division of State Fire Marshal, Department of Commerce, in all cases where any such order, standard, rule or regulation is in conflict with the Ohio Basic Building Code, except that rules adopted and orders issued by the Fire Marshal pursuant to Ohio R.C. Chapter 3743 prevail in the event of a conflict.

(b) In all other cases of conflict between the Ohio Fire Code and any other municipal ordinance or technical code adopted thereby, the stricter standard shall control.
(a) Fines for state fire code violations pursuant to R.C. §§ 3737.42, 3737.43, 3737.45, 3737.51 and 3737.99:
(1) No annual extinguisher service/tag: $25.00 per extinguisher;
(2) Failure to have required extinguisher: $75.00 per extinguisher;
(3) Failure to have required K extinguisher: $300.00 per extinguisher;
(4) No commercial hood system cleaning service/tag: $500.00;
(5) Any commercial hood fire protection system violation; $500.00 per violation;
(6) Any sprinkler system or fire protection system violation: $1,000 per violation;
(7) Any alarm system violation: $500.00 per violation;
(8) Failure to have required exit signs: $100.00 per violation;
(9) Failure to have required emergency lighting: $50.00 per violation;
(10) Open electric panels, junction box or wiring; $100.00 per violation;
(11) Open electric panels, junction box or wiring 220 volts or greater: $500.00 per violation;
(12) Improper use of extension cords: $25.00 per cord;
(13) Blocking of egress or exit in any manner: $250.00 per violation;
(14) Any fire door violation: $250.00 per door;
(15) Accumulations of waste: $100.00 per violation;
(16) Heating appliance violations: $500.00 per violation;
(17) Failure to have certificate of occupancy: $1,000;
(18) Failure to have required Knox box: $750.00; and
(19) LPG, Flammable or combustible liquid stored in occupied structure; $1,000.
(b) All other fines shall be assessed as needed determinant on perceived danger to public or firefighting personnel, but shall not exceed one thousand dollars ($1,000) per violation.
