No person shall discharge any gun, pistol or other firearm within the city limits. This prohibition shall not apply to emergency protection of persons and property on any individual's own premises. Further, this section shall not apply nor be construed to prevent any United States, state, county or city peace officer from discharging any firearm in the execution of the officer's duties. This section shall further not apply to individuals discharging firearms with the written consent of the city for the purpose of killing deer pursuant to a city approved deer management plan. No person shall wear any pistol, revolver, slingshot, cross knuckles, knuckles of lead, brass or other metal or any bowie knife, razor, billy, dirk, dirk knife or dagger or any knife resembling a dirk knife, bowie knife or other dangerous weapons under the person's clothes or concealed about or upon the person, provided this section shall not be construed to prevent any United States, state, county or city officer or member of the city government from carrying any such weapons as may be necessary in the proper discharge of said officer's or member's official duties. A. Discharge Prohibited: It shall be unlawful for any person to discharge or cause to be discharged any air rifle, toy pistol, toy gun or other toy arms or slingshot, loaded with leaden or other dangerous missiles, at any time or under any circumstances within the city limits. (1978 Code §24-65)
B. Carrying Prohibited: It shall be unlawful for any person to possess or carry any toy pistol, toy gun or other toy arms or slingshot out of or by which any leaden or other dangerous missiles may be discharged.
C. Persons Under Eighteen Years Of Age: It shall be unlawful for any parent, guardian or other person having the care and custody of any person under eighteen (18) years of age to purchase for or give to any such person or knowingly to permit any such underaged person to have any toy pistol, toy gun or other toy arms or slingshot out of which any leaden or other dangerous missiles may be discharged.
