§ 70.99 PENALTY.
   (A)   This section shall be referred to as the Civil Infraction and Civil Fine Section.

   (B)   Any provision of the city ordinances which describes an act or admission which constitutes a civil infraction under the terms of the Michigan Vehicle Code, being Public Act 300 of 1949, as amended, shall be processed as a civil infraction and any person found to have committed a civil infraction may be ordered to pay a civil fine of not more than $100 and costs in accordance with Section 907 of the Michigan Vehicle Code. Violation of any other provision of the ordinances not constituting a civil infraction as herein provided shall be punishable by a fine of not more than $500 or imprisonment of not more than 90 days, or both such fine and imprisonment.

   (C)   The penalties for violating Section 8.10d shall specifically include, without limitation, the right to impound any trailer in violation of the provisions of said section, and/or fine of not more than $500.

   (D)   Any person who shall violate any of the provisions of §§ 70.15 through 70.19 shall be guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon conviction thereof, shall be punished by a fine of not more than $300 and costs of prosecution or by imprisonment not more than 90 days or both such fine and imprisonment.
   (E)   Any provision in §§ 70.25 or 70.26 which describes an act or omission as constituting a civil infraction as defined in the Michigan Vehicle Code shall be processed as a civil infraction. Any person found to have committed a civil infraction may be ordered to pay a civil fine and costs in accordance with the provisions and terms of the Michigan Vehicle Code.
   (F)   Any person who shall violate any of the provisions of §§ 70.25 or 70.26 which describes any act or omission as constituting a misdemeanor as defined in the Michigan Vehicle Code, shall be processed as a misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof, shall be punished by a fine of not more than $500 and costs of prosecution, or by imprisonment for not more than 93 days, or both such fine and imprisonment.
   (G)   In the event the Michigan Vehicle Code shall provide a penalty or sentence for a violation thereof that exceeds the maximum allowable penalty or sentence that a city may impose, the penalty or sentence imposed for a violation shall not thereby be invalid or void, but the penalty or sentence shall only be enforceable up to the maximum penalty or sentence a city is allowed to impose by law.
