On the second (2nd) day of January, following each regular Municipal election, or if such a day be a Sunday or a legal holiday, on the day following, all the duly elected officials of the Municipality shall meet at the usual place of holding Council meetings, at which time said duly elected official shall take and subscribe his or her oath of affirmation of office to support the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of the State of Ohio, the laws of the State of Ohio and the Charter of the City of Independence and ordinances enacted, pursuant thereto, and faithfully, honestly and impartially, to discharge the duties of his or her office. Prior to assuming the duties of his or her office, every duly elected officer shall take and subscribe his or her oath, as provided or as soon thereafter as possible, and give such bond as may be required of him or her conformably to this Charter.
