1331.01 OBOA OHIO RESIDENTIAL CODE (ORC).

   There is hereby adopted and incorporated by reference for the purpose of establishing rules and regulations for the construction, alteration, removal, demolition, equipment, use, and occupancy, location and maintenance of one, two and three-family dwellings and appurtenant structures, that certain building code known as the OBOA Ohio Residential Code (ORC) (Latest Edition), except such portions as are hereinafter added, modified or deleted. Notwithstanding any of the provisions of such Code to the contrary:

   (a)   All wood or metal studding, including ceiling joists and rafters, shall be on sixteen-inch centers, except that studding, joists and rafters for accessory buildings of less than 145 square feet and for garages may be twenty-four inches on center if the Building Official determines that they are properly designed and are appropriate for the structure;

   (b)   All roof trusses shall be twenty-four inches on center with a minimum cord of two inches by four inches on the bottom and rafter side if the Building Official determines that they are properly designed and are appropriate for the structure; and

   (c)   Backflow and cross connection prevention shall be installed for potable water supply system.
