1301.04 DUTIES OF INSPECTOR OF BUILDINGS.
The Inspector of Buildings shall be charged with the survey and inspection of buildings and with the enforcement of this Code and all other laws and ordinances relating to the erection, construction, alteration, repair, removal and safety of buildings, structures, heating apparatus, gas fitting, house drainage and plumbing, steam boilers, electric wiring, prevention of smoke, fire escapes and other fire protective devices. He shall pass upon all questions relating to the strength and durability of buildings and structures and the quality of materials and workmanship so far as they affect safety, examine and approve all plans and specifications submitted therefor, before a permit shall be issued, and shall sign all permits, certificates and notices required to be issued. He shall promptly acknowledge receipt of all official communications, notices and reports pertaining to his department.
