§ 71.09 EMERGENCY VEHICLES.
The provisions of §§ 70.06, 71.03 through 71.09, 73.01 through 73.05, 73.20, 73.21 and 73.36 shall not apply to vehicles when operated with due regard for safety, under the direction of police officers, firefighters or ambulance personnel when responding to any emergency call, or in the immediate pursuit of actual or suspected violators of the law or of persons charged with or suspected of any violation. This exemption shall not, however, protect the driver of any emergency vehicle from the consequences of a reckless disregard of the safety of others.
