5-10-9: DUTY OF LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS:
   A.   Upon finding a minor in or upon any street or public place within the city, in violation of any of the provisions of this chapter, it shall be the duty of the attending law enforcement officer of the city to take the name of such minor and the name and address of the minor's parent.
   B.   The law enforcement officer shall take the minor to the law enforcement facility where the parent shall immediately be notified to come for such minor. If the minor requires medical treatment, the law enforcement officer shall take the minor to a medical facility instead of the law enforcement facility.
   C.   Minors apprehended for violation of the provisions of this chapter will be taken to a law enforcement facility and held until a parent or legal guardian appears to accept legal custody of said minor. If the parent cannot be located, or fails to take charge of the minor, then the minor shall be released to the juvenile authorities, except to the extent that in accordance with the law enforcement regulations approved in advance by juvenile authorities, the minor may be temporarily entrusted to a relative, neighbor or other person who will, on behalf of the parent, assume the responsibility of caring for the minor pending the availability or arrival of the parent.
   D.   The law enforcement officer shall file a written report to the chief of police or his designee within twenty four (24) hours of the violation. (Ord. 2252, 6-28-1982)
