3-2-5: TREES:
   A.   Nuisances Declared: All trees growing in a natural state on lots adjoining residences or buildings on other lots, all or any part of which is likely to fall and injure such buildings or to fall on the property of others, or to do injury to life or property of others, are hereby declared to be a public nuisance. (1983 Code § 8.12.070)
   B.   Removal Required: The mayor is hereby authorized, empowered and directed, on request of any resident of the city owning property menaced by such standing trees to serve on such party or parties owning or occupying such land on which said trees are located, a notice requiring their immediate destruction; provided that, should said owner or occupier be a nonresident or not found in the city, notice may be served by mailing same to his last known address. The notice shall require the removal of said trees within five (5) days from receipt of notice. In default of removing said trees after notice, the mayor may proceed forthwith to hire such labor as may be required, to remove the same and abate the nuisance, all at the property owner's expense.    C.   Removal Of Certain Trees By Private Citizens: The owner of any lot or building near or adjacent or contiguous to said trees and likely to be damaged by the falling of said trees, may secure permission of the mayor or city council to, and at his own expense may, remove and abate said nuisance and cut such trees.
