749.09 PAWNBROKER MAY NOT CHANGE OR RELEASE ARTICLE PLEDGED WITHIN FORTY-EIGHT HOURS.
No pawnbroker shall change, alter, smelt or deface any article or voluntarily release possession of any goods, articles or things pledged with him or purchased by him until the expiration of forty-eight hours after the delivery to the Chief of Police of a copy and statement relating thereto as provided in Section 749.04, except by the permission of the Police Division.
