8-803: PERMITS REQUIRED:
   A.   It shall be unlawful for any person who operates a food service establishment for profit in the city of Grove, to hire or permit to be hired, or permit to work gratis, any person serving or preparing food or handling food utensils who does not possess a current and unrevoked food handler's permit approved by the director.
   B.   All food handlers shall be required to obtain, from the Delaware County health department, a food handler's permit, the issuance of which shall be subject to the requirements provided by the Delaware County health department in conjunction with the Oklahoma state department of health.
      1.   Application for such a permit must be made to the director by such person. The applicant must attend and meet any requirements established for a course of instruction presented by the Delaware County health department and approved by the director in the sanitary practice of food preparation, service and personal hygiene.
      2.   An applicant may be approved by the director for a permit if he or she has satisfactorily attended and met requirements established for the course of instruction in another county or can show proof of completion of such a course that is acceptable by the director.
      3.   Upon approval of the application by the director, the Delaware County health department shall issue on behalf of the city of Grove a food handler's permit to said person; provided that said applicant pays any fees charged for issuing the permit. The permit entitles the person to work in a food service establishment during the twenty four (24) months following the date on which said permit is issued.
      4.   The director is hereby authorized to issue temporary permits permitting said applicant to work in a food service establishment until the next regular course of instruction in the sanitary practices of food service and preparation is conducted; provided, however, such temporary permits shall expire on the day the above mentioned course of instruction begins.
   C.   It shall be unlawful for any person to serve, prepare food or handle food utensils in a food service establishment, except as otherwise provided for herein, who cannot immediately exhibit a current and unrevoked food handler's permit approved by the director.
   D.   Food handler's permits issued are not transferable to another person. (Ord. 688, 9-2-2014)
